After a few nights of absence, the Royal Air Force is back over Berlin the night of October 23rd, 1944 to October 24th.
From the ground, Berlin must have been dark and gray, the crews of the British bombers are reporting a closed layer of clouds up to 4.000 m. The 38 MosquitosMiddlebrook, Martin et al.; The Bomber Command War Diaries; a.a.O, Page 606 are completing their mission without being harassed by flak or night fighters, the weather neither permitted flying nor searchlight illumination. But it also meant that the bombers had to drop their loads without being able to visually confirm their target.
